Our Solution
At Studyo, we offer a pragmatic approach to implementing self-regulated learning (SRL) in schools, designed to minimize teacher workload while maximizing student benefits. Our solution, developed under the guidance of Dr. Kelsey Losenno from McGill University, requires only a few minutes each day from teachers and provides a step-by-step plan to successfully integrate SRL into any classroom. This ensures that the process is both sustainable and scalable, empowering every school to help their students become more independent and effective learners.
Professional Development Workshops
Implementing Self-Regulated Learning starts with professional development for teachers and school staff. This critical phase provides teachers with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to get started. The workshops also enables the Studyo team to learn about your specific school and teachers’ needs so we can shape your plan to make students more self-directed and build their executive function skills.
Three workshops are initially offered, to be scheduled over the course of 3-6 months to ensure the ongoing development and reinforcement of SRL practices. With each workshop, participants are pre-surveyed in order to customize the workshop, building upon their prior knowledge and directly addressing their current needs.
Workshops are delivered by Dr. Kelsey Losenno who’s research is focused on self-regulated learning. The workshops are co-designed with Pure & Applied, a learning and development organization with expertise in evidence-based instructional design and K12 professional development.

This workshop series has been designed as a program whereby participants can begin with workshop 1, followed by workshop 2 and 3.
Workshop 1: Boosting Executive Function in the Classroom
This workshop focuses on the critical role of executive function (EF) skills in student success. Teachers will learn techniques to support students in developing key EF skills such as planning, organizing, and self-control. The emphasis will be on immediate applicability, providing teachers with practical tools they can use right away to enhance EF skills in their classrooms.
Learning Objective:
- Understand the importance of EF skills in learning and behavior.
- Recognize signs of EF difficulties in students and Explore strategies to strengthen students' EF skills.
- Apply specific strategies to enhance EF skills, such as planning, organization, and impulse control with a focus on practical application / Implement classroom practices that support EF development.
Who Should Take This Course: Special education teachers, early childhood educators, and any teachers working with students who have difficulty with organization, time management, or impulse control. Particularly beneficial for teachers dealing with students who have ADHD or other learning disabilities.
Duration: 2.5 hours

The focus will be on immediate applicability, ensuring that teachers come out of the workshop with a concrete set of tools they can apply right away in their classrooms.

- Recognize students SRL strengths and weaknesses
- Identify strategies to support students in developing SRL skills
- Learn how to implement SRL strategies in the classroom with a focus on practical application/ Develop skills to support students in becoming independent, motivated learners

Participants will learn about various Studyo tools (the functions of the software) and applications that can be integrated into their teaching to enhance student learning and engagement.

- Evaluate the impact of technology (Studyo) on student learning and make adjustments as needed.
